As a brand, Mammut has stood for quality, safety, and innovation since 1862. To keep this promise, we continuously check our materials and products. Through valuable consumer feedback, it has come to our attention that the locking mechanism of two shovel models could be compromised in some cases, due to a material error of a plastic component supplier. This leads to the fact that some shovels might face difficulties being assembled. We inspected 100% of our stock immediately after receiving the feedback. The inspection confirmed that solely the Alugator Ride 3.0 Hoe as well as Alugator Ride SE models might be affected. The latter is part of the Barryvox Package, the Barryvox S Package, and the Barryvox Package Tour. Only products produced as of November 2021, might face those issues.

Story | In the heart of Catalonia, at the foothills of the Pyrenees, lies Oliana. A limestone crag perched above its namesake village attracts climbing enthusiasts from all over the world. This climbing hotspot is home to some of the most challenging and famous sport climbs. Also Chris Frick is under Oliana's spell. Except he's on a different mission than other climbers - Chris rebolts climbing routes. His project: the rebolting of the iconic Mind Control route. A matter close to his heart that took a dramatic turn of events.

MIND CONTROL – MORE THAN A CLIMBING ROUTE

On January 6, 2022, Chris Frick sends an email to Mammut. It's a matter very close to his heart: Rebolting the route Mind Control in Oliana, Spain. For this, he needs equipment such as bolts, fixed quickdraws, and a lot more. Mammut is instantly on board. Like Chris, it is also essential to Mammut to ensure the safest possible climbing experience for all and to help keep iconic routes such as the Mind Control accessible and preserved.

Story | Ep. 03: Four meters deep

When Tim Banfield turned on his avalanche transceiver to find his friend Michelle Kadatz buried four meters beneath him, he realized this rescue was not going to follow the textbook.

Story | Whether it's an unexpected storm that causes poor lighting conditions, a dense fog hindering a rescue attempt, or heavy snowdrifts that make orientation difficult. In the mountains, weather conditions often change rapidly, becoming a hazard in summer and winter alike. See and be seen: It's no surprise that the issue of mountain sport's safety is often also a matter of color. But when did orange make its debut on the mountain?

SAFETY ORANGE – A COLOR THAT CONQUERS MOUNTAIN SPORTS

When it comes to safety, orange, especially, is considered the color of choice. "Safety Orange", as the bright and often neon fluorescent orange color typically used in high-risk situations is called, is employed in a wide range of conditions - from safety clothing to snow fences. The reason is simple: compared to other colors, "Safety Orange" is easily visible to the human eye even under adverse lighting conditions. Ever since Mammut, the mountain-sports brand, introduced its "Eiger Extreme" mountaineering collection more than 20 years ago, the color has become indispensable in mountain sports apparel. It is also a highly visible orientation aid for safety products such as avalanche equipment.
